Last week I was searching the internet with my daughter for more then one hour trying to find a hairdresser in our neighborhood. You won’t believe it – none of Hairdressing Salons in my area have a website and some of them that were listed on google maps the info details was incorrect. I wish we had a Yellow Pages in our house.
I would say that the Yellow Pages is still a good low cost advertising option for local businesses but we shouldn’t forget about new generation people who want to search online. ADVICE: List yourself in YP but don’t forget about INTERNET.
I have mixed views when it comes to the yellow pages. I would have said, up until last week, that advertising in the yellow pages was a waste of money. However, last week I met two people (in their early 70s) who said that they still don’t use the internet to search for business services as they prefer the phone book or yellow pages instead. What was surprising is that they are both computer literate and spend a few hours each day sending emails and/or reading newspaper articles online. Needless to say this has changed my view about advertising in ‘book form’ directories. Perhaps it’s wise to put an ad in the yellow pages as well as online so that you catch enquires from both.
I think its a generational thing and I agree with Antonio and have realised that advertising in both covers a wider spread of people. It can be rather expencive and it is not very green so If one has to go over the other make it the pages.
